But there's nothing wrong, in my opinion, with discussing the utility of product -especially in the context of the price. In the end, Scott says "hey if you don't like it don't buy it." That's perfectly valid. Also, OnOne implies on their site that it's great for people who do have PhotoShop, which is a bit of a stretch. I think the point that he misses is that the plugin is more expensive than Elements and nowhere near as powerful.

And he implies it is free: he repeats the word "free" two or three times before saying it's a free public beta. He rightly points out that it is designed for people who don't have PhotoShop or Elements. On the Episode 08 video "The Grid", Scott Kelby defends Perfect Layers and sort of distances himself from the project. And now people want to add everything else in Photoshop and make it raw and nondestructive? Sure, it is technically possible.but you should then plan your raw processing around meals, trips to the store, and weekend vacations, so that you have something to do while your long chain all renders! Each adds another step that must be calculated all the way from the raw to the preview. Just think about how much the raw editing redraw already slows down when we start piling on the adjustment brushes, gradients, and lens corrections.

Using a free plugin one can even layer different images (not only different renditions of one RAW file) on top of each other (this process is not super straightforward though). Bibble allows layering and masking of renderings in layers and the sytem remains quick and perfectly usable and everything remains quickly editable and loss free). Thank you for listening.BTW, a lot of that is already possible inside the Bibble RAW converter and it actually remains usable.
